As much as we love destination weddings and recommend it as an option to all of our couples, we understand that not everyone will be able to jet off to an exotic island for their special day. But that’s not to say you cannot have your very own beach celebration right in your hometown, whether you’re having an outdoor or an indoor wedding.
In particular, we love putting together Hawaiian inspired themes for our brides and grooms. Not only does this theme embrace true romance and elegance, it is also a great style to bring an element of fun to your day, whether it be through the entertainment or the food, you’ll be spoilt for choice.
Here are our top tips on how to bring the Hawaiian theme to life in 4 easy steps.
DÉCOR: When putting together a Hawaiian themed wedding, it’s important that you capture the beauty of the islands through the décor. You want to make sure you use plenty of fresh flowers in fuchsia pinks, oranges and yellows along with pops of greenery. Hang fresh leis for all your guests as wedding favours to match the florals on the wedding cake. Keep everything else crisp and clean with white linen and limewash chiavari or event ghost chairs.
STATIONERY: Your stationery and signage will be so important to tie the entire theme together. Use surfboards for your seating plan or for guests to sign instead of a book and hang fairy light signs around your chosen venue. Why not name each table after some of the island’s beautiful beaches or some of its popular attractions such as Waimea Falls, Pearl Harbour, Molokini Crater and so on.
FOOD & BEVERAGE: Think summer BBQs, fresh fruits and delicious cocktails to compliment the rest of your theme. Instead of a sit down menu, opt for buffet to keep the atmosphere fun and relaxed. Add a Tiki bar to serve yummy Mai Tais and personalised cocktails and garnish with pineapples and mini umbrellas.
ENTERTAINMENT: No Hawaiian luau would be complete without authentic Hawaiian music, hula girls and fire knife dancers. Welcome your guests with a live band to sing Hawaiian favourites, from the classics like Over the Rainbow to the King Elvis. Once the dancers have performed get all your guests involved on the dance floor to show off their hula moves.
From the décor to the food and the entertainment, you’ll certainly transport all your guests to the beautiful island. For further styling and theming tips contact a member of our team at firstname.lastname@example.org.
