Our job takes us all over the UK and across the world, where we get to visit some of the most gorgeous locations you could ever imagine. But you know what they say; home is where the heart is, and our heart is forever in our hometown of Leicester. It seems of late that our city is on the map and rightly so! It’s filled with great history, culture, art and the most amazing people you will ever find.
Today Leicester is well and truly ‘Backing The Blues’ and we’re no exception. We’d love to see Leicester City Football Club bring the trophy home, and so to show our support to the club, we’ve handpicked some of our favourite images and put them together on this mood board to show you that a LCFC-themed wedding can be as sophisticated as any other.
COLOURS: You can’t have a ‘Backing the Blues’ wedding mood board without the colour blue (stating the obvious we know). Leicester is closest to a royal blue but it’s important not to go overboard with the colour. Pick and choose a few items to make your style statement with. For example, if your glassware is blue then opt for softer colours for your table linen. Creams and ivories will certainly work well, but also look to add in a dash of bright yellows or metallic golds, to bring in an aspect of the ‘fox’.
STATIONERY: Just because you’re having a football theme does NOT mean you need to have football shaped items here there and everywhere. If you want classy this is not the way to go. You may however, want to place a football guestbook on a feature table to add to the décor (which people can sign), or serve up some football-shaped truffles as favours for your guests to enjoy. When it comes to table names go with some of the city’s most famous players. Just remember you want to be tasteful not tacky, which means less is more.
FOOD & BEVERAGE: This is where you can often bring your theme together. Why not serve up some of your favourite blue cocktails (or mocktails)? Don’t forget to jazz them up with a fun footy name. Vardy Vendome anyone? If a blue drink doesn’t really take your fancy then blue tumblers or flutes can always be used. And when it comes to food, who can forget Leicester’s association with Thailand? Give your guests a tasty treat by serving up a bit of spice. Mini spring rolls or miniature noodle boxes would work well during a drinks reception. And then follow up with a classic Thai curry and jasmine rice to complete the set.
ENTERTAINMENT: This is the one time where we say; bring on the coloured spotlights. Don’t go crazy with the blue though, as it can often make a room seem small and dark. And go for a DJ who can churn out some old school classics alongside the football club anthem. In fact, if you really want to crank up the fun then why not keep a stash of football shirts and scarves in a trunk so that once the music has started, your guests can really let loose and enjoy the night?
