Bollywood 2016: Top 12 Songs That Must Be Played At Your Wedding Reception

Well it’s nearly the end of the year and you guessed correctly – it’s time for our annual Bollywood countdown. There have been some great chartbusters this year, which your DJ should surely look to include in his or her playlist, especially if your guest list includes some hardcore Bollywood fanatics. In no particular order, here are our top 12:

1. Befikre – Nashe Si Chadh Gaye

The film may not have got such great reviews, but we’re loving this track sung by Arijit Singh. Picturised on Vaani Kapoor and Ranveer Singh it’s got a very chilled out, modern vibe. If you’ve got a great DJ, he’ll be able to blend it in nicely with a few other up-tempo tracks or find you a good alternative remix version.

 2. Sanam Teri Kasam – Kheech Meri Photo

Released in the first quarter of the year this quirky song became an instant hit due to its catchiness (you’ll see exactly why if you’ve not heard it yet). The lyrics might not make a lot of sense but no one will even notice once they hit the dance floor after a few drinks.

3. Baar Baar Dekho – Nachde Ne Saare

How stunning do Katrina Kaif and Sidharth Malhotra look in this song? If you can shake a leg like either of these two then all eyes are definitely going to be on you on the dance floor regardless of whether or not you’re the one getting married. Let’s also just take a moment to appreciate the vocals of Jasleen Royal, Harshdeep Kaur and Siddharth Mahadevan.

4. Ae Dil Hai Muskil – The Break Up Song

This track is so much fun – one of our faves! We know it’s not the best idea to include a ‘breakup song’ at a wedding reception, but we just can’t help ourselves here. Bursting with an electrifying punch this one’s guaranteed to even get those older aunties and uncles tapping their feet – even though they might be a little confused by the lyrics.

5. Airlift – Dil Cheez Tujhe Dedi

If your event has a slight Arabian vibe going on then this track is a must! We’re talking shisha, Moroccan lamps and vibrant colours here in case you were wondering. Picturised on Akshay Kumar and with the vocals of Ankit Tiwari and Arijit Singh, it’s an instant hit.

6. Kapoor & Sons – Kar Gayi Chull

If your crowd is the type that loves to PARTYYY then this song is for you. It may have released at the start of the year but it still sounds as fresh as ever and is guaranteed to be a crowd pleaser. Composed by Badshah and recreated by Amaal Mallik, it’s no wonder. Badshah, Fazilpuria, Sukriti Kakar and Neha Kakkar have all done a fab job with the vocals too.

7. Sultan – Baby Ko Bass Pasand

It’s become a growing tradition for Salman Khan to have a super duper hit every year – so of course Sultan had to make it onto our Top 12. There’s no way anyone can restrain from jumping onto the dance floor when the DJ gets this one going. It’s peppy, high on energy and once again features the popular Badshah.

8. Junooniyat – Nachange Saari Raat

Some people might feel this is a surprise entry, but we disagree. From the moment this came out it literally dominated the charts. Featuring the Meet Bros, Neeraj Shridhar and Tulsi Kumar, the video to this song isn’t too bad either as there’s definitely a Christmas vibe going on. Add it to your playlist and trust us you won’t be disappointed.

9. Housefull 3 – Malamaal

In all honesty if we could delete this film from our memories then that would be great. The music on the other hand, is something worth listening to again and again. This is definitely our favourite one from the soundtrack and features the voices of Mika Singh, Akira, Miss Pooja and Kuwar Virk. It’ll go down well with the Punjabi music-lovers.

10. Baar Baar Dekho – Kaala Chashma

Probably the BIGGEST track of the year, there is no way we could forget this one. You just know that when this one’s played a few people are going to pull out their sunglasses and start busting out the actual choreography moves. If there’s one Bollywood track you just HAVE to play during your reception, then ladies and gents, this is the one.

11. Ki & Ka – High Heels

With Kareena Kapoor so heavily preggers right now (with the baby due any minute) it’s hard to imagine we saw her on the big screen at the start of the year flaunting that envious figure, dancing side by side with Arjun Kapoor. This original Jaz Dhami track got a rather masala-fied makeover and also features the Meet Bros, Yo Yo Honey Singh and Aditi Singh Sharma.

12. Kapoor & Sons – Let’s Nacho

It didn’t quite appear in the movie which is a real shame, but you can catch the full version here. Be warned though, with Sidharth, Alia and Fawad you might just feel a little overwhelmed with all the beauty. It’s got a very western vibe to it and is definitely a good track to blend between your Indian and English tunes on the night.
