We cannot believe how quickly time has flown by. Twenty-nineteen is well and truly underway and as with any year, has bought with it a number of new and exciting wedding trends. It’s a rather long list this year and we could go on, however to keep things simple, we’ve listed just a few of our favourites below:
1. Living Coral
If you weren’t already aware, the Pantone Colour Of The Year is Living Coral. This means you will be seeing lots of variations of this shade at weddings. You might think it’s a rather summery colour, however let us assure you that it can work throughout the year. You can pair it with pinks and oranges during the summer months and deeper reds and maroons during winter. A great way to incorporate the colour into your wedding is through the use of stationery, florals and outfits.
2. Bring the outside indoors
This trend was already around in 2018 but it continues through this year. This means you will be seeing a lot more organic flowers and foliage. It doesn’t matter what time of the year, because again like above, you can use pops of colours to reflect the season. Aisle décor, wedding bouquets, table garlands and ceremony structure décor are all great ways to incorporate this into your big day.
3. Get ethical
This is something that is on the rise and we’re thrilled because it really is great to see more couples being conscious and ethically aware. There are a number of ways you can help the environment through your wedding. Think locally sourced ingredients, recycled paper, linen napkins and no plastic straws!
4. Get scent-i
This is a really simple but effective way to create a certain ambience at your wedding. Whether you light some scented candles or invest in some spray you can choose a scent that really reflects your theme and personality. For example, if you’re having a winter wedding, a cinnamon or mulled wine scent would be perfect.
5. Wind down in style
Let’s be honest, informal, unplanned after parties have always been a thing. However, couples are now opting to have planned after parties where they can wind down with some hot food and mellow music before everyone heads home for the night. Have your caterer serve some burgers and chips or dish out some pizza slices at the end of the night while your DJ switches up the music and ends the night with some slow romantic tracks.
6. Quirky entertainment
How bored are you of going to wedding after wedding and seeing the same set of dancers or musicians?! This year is about embracing your individuality and opting for things outside the box. We’re talking tarot readers, singing waiters, celebrity impersonators and so on.
7. Low level centrepieces
Gone are the huge over the top stand-out centrepieces and in are the subtle low-level centrepieces. The great thing about these is that they don’t block the view of the other guests on the table or of the best man when he’s delivering his speech. Something small and not so in your face will look both classic and elegant. We’re big fans.
