Ladies and gents we’re only a few days away from one of the most romantic days of the year, which means it’s no surprise that plenty of you will be looking to propose to the one you love.
Follow these 10 simple proposal tips to ensure your special moment is absolutely perfect:
1. Plan ahead
Whether it’s a day, week or a month in advance make sure you take all the time you need to work out the finer details of your proposal. You need to visualize how it will all work. If you need some extra help then call us, we’ve planned proposals at a few days’ notice.
2. Don’t go overboard
Think about your partner and what he or she would like. Are they someone who would appreciate an over the top grand gesture or are they someone who would prefer something low key? Don’t go overboard if you don’t need to. Make sure only the people he or she would want there are around.
3. Make it personal
Following on from the point above, think about your partner’s likes and dislikes and try and incorporate these into the proposal. You need to tailor it to suit you as a couple because no two people are ever the same, which means no relationship is ever the same.
4. Don’t tell everyone
Avoid telling the whole world because the more people you tell the more chance there is of someone slipping up. The only people that really need to know are perhaps the father of the bride (so you can take permission) and a few close friends or family members just so they can help you with ideas. Or if you don’t want anyone to know, then we can totally help with ideas!
We’ve already spoken about the importance of planning ahead but you also need to practice exactly what you’re going to say once you get to that important moment. Don’t just blurt out any old thing because it can get a little awkward. Did we mention we write speeches as well?
6. Make eye contact
Strong eye contract shows commitment and is proven to make people trust you, which is definitely something you need when you’re asking someone to marry you. Gaze into his or her eyes lovingly and just watch those sparks fly.
7. Go down on one knee
Maybe this is a little cheesy, but most girls have probably been dreaming about this moment from the first time they watched Cinderella, and she will secretly be hoping her prince charming will go down on one knee to pop the question.
8. Don’t forget the ring
This is perhaps the single most important aspect of the proposal (aside from the couple) so check, and then check again, to ensure you have the ring. There’s nothing worse than having a magical evening set up, for it to be ruined by you not being able to find it.
9. Catch it on camera
Your proposal is going to be one of the most significant moments of your relationship so why not hire a professional photographer to capture this moment for you? We’re not saying have them stand around while you’re popping the question, we’re saying have them sneakily tucked away behind some trees so they can’t be seen, but can still capture the moment beautifully.
If you’ve read our list and planned everything, then all that’s left is for you to take a deep breath and relax. You are about to ask the love of your life to become your husband or wife and it’s going to be one of the most memorable occasions of your life – ENJOY IT!
